Here’s a list of the kinds of editorial and writing services offered by DSedit. (Definitions of types of editing are from the Editors’ Association of Canada.)
Proofreading
Reading the edited, corrected final document to check for errors before it goes live or to print.
Copy Editing
Line-by-line editing for grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Checking for consistency of mechanics and internal consistency of facts.
Stylistic Editing
Line-by-line editing to clarify meaning, eliminate repetition, smooth awkward or confusing language, and ensure consistent voice or appropriate reading level.
Substantive or Structural Editing
“Big-picture” editing that involves looking at the overall structure and organization of the document to make sure there is a clear and logical progression of ideas.
For all editorial services, email your document (or a sample) and we can set up a consultation to determine your needs. We’ll evaluate the document and give you a quote.
Fees are based on how much time a particular type of edit requires. The more intensive edits take longer. For example, a substantive edit takes longer than a proofread.
